Hy! Today I will compare Canon 18-55mm lens & Canon 18-135mm.
First is 18-55mm.
It has 3 advantages over 18-135mm:1.
it's cheaper2.
it's small and light and it's not heavy to carry around.
3.
It has closer macro photography , in other words it can focus on closer distance of the object.
it weighs 200g/0.
44 lbs and it costs around 70€.
That is pretty cheap.
If you are total beginner and you have to learn how to use your camera, this kit lens is for you and you can use it a few months for practice before upgrading.
If you want to use this lens for video recording you'll have a problem with focusing sound because it's annoying and that sound stays in video.
Here is the sound of the manual focus that is not as terrible as autofocus sound which you will hear later in this video.
And this is 18-135mm IS STM lens that have all the other advantages: better zoom, better autofocus it has image stabilization that makes a huge difference especially if you don't have tripod.
This lens weighs 480g/1lbs and costs 400€ which is relatively expensive.
The biggest advantage for video recording is that it has "STM" which stands for "stepper motor" that makes almost no sound while focusing.
Here is how it sounds like when you're focusing manually: There is literally no sound.
This is why STM version makes much better job in video mode.
And now you will hear autofocus on both lenses: I made a couple of same pictures with both lenses so you can see the zoom difference.
